Dave started his law enforcement career in the United States army as a military policeman. He served as a police dog handler/trainer and later as a line policeman. After serving three years he was honorably discharged in 1966. That year he became a member of the Bellwood police department. He served a short time there before moving on to a long career in law enforcement ending a more than thirty year employment at the Matteson police department, where he served as a select traffic unit accident investigator, field training officer, swat team member, a founding member of the ITOA ,Illinois tactical officers association, and a certified motorcycle officer. He quit with benefits in 2004 (retired). He has served on the IPPFA board for almost twenty years, as a director, second vice and now vice president. In his spare time he collects law enforcement memorabilia, his collection of more than ten thousand shoulder patches and over three hundred metal breast badges and other items keeps him very busy. He also is training to become a helicopter pilot. He also serves as president of the Matteson police pension fund serving since its inception in the early 1970s….he currently serves as co-chairman of the IPPFA legislative committee.
